LAKE LIVINGSTON — The Coast Guard returned from refueling in Conroe to continue searching from the air for the missing persons at Lake Livingston. Just prior to their return, Texas Parks and Wildlife were searching by boat and found flipflops floating in the water that were known to belong to the victims. The Coast Guard began searching the area where the flipflops were discovered, and on their first pass, they spotted the mother and son and guided Texas Parks and Wildlife to them. The mother and her 14-year-old son, who were wearing properly functioning and fastened life vests, were transported to Browder Marina where medics evaluated them and found both to be in good health. They declined transport and headed home after their long ordeal.
