About 12:45 a.m. Willis Police attempted to stop a red pickup truck on FM 1097 near I-45. When they approached the intersection the vehicle sped up and entered the freeway. A pursuit started. Conroe Police attempted to assist as did DPS by setting up spikes. Near the south side of Conroe the vehicle struck the spikes but continued on. As units got closer the suspect, began to deploy a wheel chair type device on the officers.
The chase continued to Woodlands Parkway where the suspect stopped on the right shoulder. At that point shots were fired and the suspect was hit.
At this point I-45 is closed at Woodlands Parkway as the investigation continues.
All traffic is being diverted to the feeder.
