Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a suspect in the January 3, 2017 robbery of Helzberg Diamond Store in The Woodlands Mall. Officials say two men entered the jewelry store, spray painted the security cameras, and used hammers to smash glass display cases before removing a large amount of jewelry.
When a civilian tried to stop them, he was struck in the face with a hammer, causing serious injuries that required surgery.
The suspects fled in a Toyota Rav4, with several thousand dollars in jewelry. Police later found the vehicle abandoned nearby.
Detectives assigned to the case put many hours into interviewing witnesses, reviewing security video, and examining evidence before securing an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Shamarie Eleutario Harris, for the felony offense of Aggravated Robbery.
Harris is believed to be one of the two men who entered the store and took the jewelry. Public Data shows Harris has a prior misdemeanor conviction for Possession of Marijuana.
Officials say there are numerous additional suspects and their investigation is continuing with additional arrests expected.
