ACCIDENT ON WALDEN ROAD CLOSES IT FOR SEVERAL HOURS

A major accident on Walden Road on the bridge near Bois D Arc has Walden Road Closed. The accident happened at 3:45pm. EMS is currently working the scene and waiting on an Air Medical Helicopter. One critical patient is being transported by ground ambulance and another stable patient is being transported. Conroe Police are assisting DPS and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office with the accident.

Early information is an 85 year-old Herschel Payne was driving southbound on Walden Road with 82-year-old Donna Henderson in a 1993 Lincoln Town Car. Witnesses told Troopers that he was slumped over the wheel when he crossed the centerline striking a Grand Prix with a glancing blow. The female driver and her 2-year-old child were transported with non life threatening injuries.
He continued and struck a Ford F-150 driven by a teenager with his brother as a passenger, they were uninjured.
That F-150 then struck a Dodge Ram spinning into the guard rail.
The Lincoln continued hitting a Chevrolet pickup in the front left.
MCHD requested two helicopters for the elderly man and his wife. However, due to his critical injuries and the time to arrival of the helicopter he was transported by ground.
Donna Henderson age 82 was transported to Hermann Hospital by air with critical injuries.
According to Trooper Williams this appears to be an accident caused by a medical condition as the investigation is still in the early stages.
If this is medical related this will be the third in a short period of time.
Back in April a fatal accident caused by a medical condition at Rayford and Rayfordcrest.
Last month an accident on Chateau Woods Parkway claimed the life of an elderly man as he and his wife were westbound on Chateau Woods he veered through the center cable divider , crossing the eastbound lane and striking a wishing well in a front yard. His wife was uninjured.
