Murder suspect Colt Morgan who has been the sought by law enforcement officers for almost a month after butchering his girlfriend and burning her in the fireplace was captured this afternoon in Buffalo, Texas. He was captured not far from where he attempted to pull a pistol on a Buffalo Police Officer just two weeks ago.
Early this afternoon an employee at the Hampton Inn just to the west of Interstate 45 called 911 to report a male fitting Morgans description near their maintenance building on the corner of the property. Buffalo Police responded and spotted Morgan running into the woods. Additional officers surrounded the woods and were able to take him without incident. Inside the storage building they found a .22 with a silencer and ammunition. air soft guns, clothing, small sacks of coins some of which appeared to be a collection.
A four wheeler stolen just the other side of the wooded area several weeks back has not yet been recovered.
Officials believe Morgan had been living off dumpsters at the McDonalds and the Hampton Inn. In addition to possibly stealing from sheds or outbuildings as they were also able to find a six pack of beer.
Morgan has been transported to the Leon County Jail and is awaiting the arrival of Harris County to transport him back to Houston.
