brother to missing woodlands man drowns

William Murray, 21 of the Woodlands and brother to T.J. Murray, the man missing in South Montgomery County drowned in the  Guadalupe River Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office, Murray  was swimming across the river near the Camp Hueco Springs Campground, about 50 yards up from the 1st Crossing, when he went under the water and didn’t resurface.

Several of Murray’s friends called 911 as soon as they witnessed him go down. As emergency crews were enroute one of the friends was able to recover Murray and CPR was initiated.

Canyon Lake EMS then transported Murray to a New Braunfels Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m.

Canyon Lake EMS crews took over CPR once they arrived on scene and began life support measures as they transported the man to Christus New Braunfels Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:12pm.

His brother TJ is a student at Sam Houston State University and resides in Huntsville. His family resides in South Montgomery County.

TJ was last seen leaving a sports bar on Sawdust Road shortly after midnight on October 19, 2011.

He spoke with his father by phone at 12:30a.m. and has not been heard from since.  His cell phone was later found near the sports bar in a ditch and his truck remained in the parking lot.
