On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, Montgomery County Pct. 2 Deputy Constable J. Smith was dispatched to a burglary in progress call on Willis Waukegan Road. A juvenile reportee called 9-1-1 to report that she heard noises downstairs in her home and that no one should be there at that time. Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers arrived on location and detained a suspect until Deputy Smith arrived.
Interviewing the reporting witness, Deputy Smith learned that the suspect, later identified as PATRICK BRATCHER, 27, of Conroe, had entered the residence without permission and taken keys to a vehicle which he was attempting to remove when officers arrived. The homeowner advised Deputy Smith that BRATCHER did not have permission to enter the home or take the vehicle in question.
Upon reviewing this case with the on-call Assistant District Attorney, BRATCHER was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail, charged with Burglary of a Habitation with intent to commit theft.
In a second incident related to this scene, Deputy Smith identified KAYLA C SMITH,29, of Porter, who was present during the burglary, and found that she had two outstanding felony warrants for bond forfeiture. SMITH was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail without incident.
