BURLESON DEPUTY SHOT AND KILLED SERVING A WARRANT

OFFICER SHOTPRESS RELEASE FROM BURLESON COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE

At approximately 5:30am Thursday morning, the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a mobile home residence on County Road 278 in the southern end of Burleson County between Somerville and Snook.

Upon entry, the team of officers took fire and an officer was injured.

It is with great sadness that I inform you that Sgt Investigator Adam Sowders has passed away due to injuries he received.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will become available on the suspect as charging occurs.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation of this incident with assistance from Department of Public Safety and many of the surrounding counties.

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office would like to offer our thanks for all of the agencies and citizens of the community that have assisted during this time of tragedy.

 

Fredrich Adam Sowders, 31, Somerville
Deputy with the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office since 12-18-2006
Promoted to Investigator in 2013, was one of 3 investigators
Previously a Police Officer with Somerville Police Department
A Somerville Fire Department firefighter since he was 18 years old
Emergency Management Coordinator from Apr 2005 to Apr 2006
Did not have a wife or children but had many family members in the community
Was loved and respected by all in the Sheriff’s Office and in Burleson county.
