BUSY INTERSECTION REOPENS

Just after 2pm Caney Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a fluid spill at FM3083 and Old Houston Road. When they arrived on the scene they found almost thirty gallons of waste oil spread down FM 3083 through the intersection. Vehicles were spinning out according to witnesses. The intersection was closed to traffic and traffic diverted through the parking lots of they businesses at that intersection. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Precinct 4 Constables and Caney Creek Fire Department rerouting traffic as Milstead Environmental started clean-up efforts.

The Texas Department of Transportation responded with a load of sand. After spreading the sand through the intersection it was reopened to traffic. The timing of the reopening helped Conroe ISD busses from all the area schools that travel through the intersection and the students driving or getting rides from those same schools.

Trooper DeFrance with Texas Department of Public Safety License and Weight also responded to inspect the truck for defects and safety issues and to determine how the oil spilled out of the top hatch onto the roadway.
