Just after 7am this morning Grimes County received a call for a head-on accident on FM 1774 just south of SH105. When they arrived they found a white passenger van and a Mazda both with heavy front end damage. They also realized they had five patients either trapped or in need of medical attention. Plantersville Fire Department responded and had to cut three doors off the Mazda to free the three victims. They had just recently aquired the rescue tools through a grant.
PHI Air Medical was dispatched to the scene and transported a male child and an adult female to Hermann Hospital in Houston. A third victim was transported by Grimes County to Navasota.
The victims in the van were transported by MCHD who was also dispatched to assist at the scene. FM1774 remained closed for almost two hours as the scene was cleared.
The vehicles were relocated at the Plantersville Fire Station as troopers gathered additional information on the vehicles. At this point they have not been able to talk to the drivers to determine what caused the head on accident.
As they gathered their information a driver pulled up and advised them of a roll-over accident just south of the first scene. They and Fire responded and found a vehicle in the ditch with the driver still in it.
EMS responded and transported the woman to Tomball Regional Hospital in stable condition.
The Tomball resident advised troopers she had tried to reach for her cell phone as she was northbound on FM1774 when she over corrected hitting the ditch and flipping.
