Monday afternoon the winds were just right as was the humidity for a grass fire. Caney Creek Firefighters were dispatched at 2pm Monday for a grass fire on Brown Road. A resident had been burning when it spread to the grass around it. Even though the ground was wet enough to almost sink a fire truck the tops were dry as the wind pushed the flames toward nearby woods. The resident attempted to stop it with a garden hose however flames melted that hose. Firefighters were able to quickly get it under control.
