CHASE KNOCKS OUT S. LOOP TRAFFIC LIGHTS

Just after 2am this morning Houston Police attempted to stop a mini-van at Tidwell and I-45 in Houston for a headlight violation. The driver, Juan Carlos Nolazco-Hernandez, 30 accelerated and refused to stop. A pursuit started crossing into Montgomery County. Montgomery County was first notified of the chase when it was reaching Tamina Road. Oak Ridge Police attempted to stop the vehicle with no success.

The van continued north on I-45 to the South Loop 336 exit. Conroe police were attempting to set spikes when the driver veered across the grass median in an attempt to get to Frazier Street. In doing so he struck the traffic control box for the signal lights at I-45 and the South Loop and Frazier and the South Loop 336.

At that point the driver was taken into custody for possession and evading arrest.

The traffic lights remain on flashing at the South Loop intersection. On the eastbound lanes they are completely out and Conroe Public Works has stop signs in place.
