Devastating, incomprehensible news as that a dwelling fire in Chicago has now claimed the lives of all four family members of Chicago Firefighter Walter Stewart.
His two remaining children — a 2-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl who have been hospitalized since their house fire Tuesday night — passed away last night.
The fire had also claimed the lives of Stewart’s wife, 36-year-old Summer Day-Stewart, who died Friday, as well as the couple’s 7-year-old son, Ezra Stewart, who died Wednesday.
The fire broke out just after 2100 hours in the 2500 block of North Rutherford Avenue and everyone inside the home suffered severe smoke inhalation. FF Stewart was working Truck 55 in Edison Park and rushed to the scene after hearing his own address come over the radio. The home did have smoke alarms.
