On Friday, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the presence of a wanted child predator from Kerrville, Kerr County, Texas, who was reportedly traveling through East Montgomery County. It was also indicated that the suspect might be accompanied by a missing juvenile from Kerville. In response, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reached out to the Splendora Police Department, as Interstate 69 passes through the area and the suspect was known to frequent that route.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Splendora Police Department’s Criminal Interdiction Unit, the suspect’s vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was initiated. Both the suspect and the missing juvenile were found inside the vehicle at that time. The Criminal Interdiction Unit swiftly took the suspect into custody, while the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted in safely recovering the juvenile, who was subsequently taken to the hospital for a precautionary evaluation. Texas Department of Public Safety assisted during the traffic stop.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the suspect had entered the country illegally and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on charges of Sexual Assault of a Child, in addition to an Immigration Detainer.
This successful operation highlights the importance of collaboration in Texas to apprehend dangerous criminals.
