MIB TURN GRINCH IN BLACK AFTER HE OPENS SUSPECTS XMAS GIFTS

A Precinct 4 Deputy Constable conducted a routine traffic stop that became a felony arrest Wednesday evening. The stop occurred on Hwy 59 at FM 2090 in Splendora. A black female was driving the vehicle, with a black male as her passenger and a baby in a child safety seat in the back seat.. Suspicious behavior led the Deputy to request consent to search the SUV, which was granted. In the rear passenger seat, next to the baby the deputy found two Christmas gift-wrapped packages containing approximately one pound of marijuana each.. Each package labled, “To: Jessica From Uncle Bill and Ant Faye”. The male passenger claimed ownership of the contraband in the packages, along with more marijuana concealed in a clear plastic bag in the center console.

Tyfred D-Earl Maxie, 27, of Nacogdoches, is charged with State Jail Felony Possession of Marijuana (more than 4 ounces, less than 5 pounds).

Precinct. 4 Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden said the arrest was another example of the importance of being alert and thorough.

“We’ve caught a lot of people who were attempting to transport drugs in, or through, East County and most of them had some creative idea they were sure would work, like Mr. Maxie’s gift boxes,” Constable Hayden said. “I hope his arrest will send a message to others who are planning to smuggle drugs here.”
