Tuesday night the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables Office hosted the “Shoot Don’t Shoot”. This was for their fifth Citizen’s Academy put on since Constable Hayden took office. Each person in the class went through two scenarios each with the police as the bad guy. Most all had an eye opening experience as they ended up getting shot. The officers used blanks but the citizens used paint marker guns. Several officer were also shot by the Citizen Officer but most of those were a reaction to being shot. Deputies ended up with paint markings on their lip, leg, fingers and several other spots where the sting of the pait was felt even through the protective gear they wore. The first scenario was a traffic stop which went south quickly in many cases . Pinning the Citizen Officer up against 3 bad guys. In a few of the incidents one of the bad guys ran off only to return and get into the patrol car. THe second scenario was a suicidal suspect who in most cases ended up shooting the Citizen Officer. All the students were kept inside the East Montgomery County Courthouse so they were no able to see what they were up against as their fellow class mates went through the incident. Montgomery County Precinct 4 is now taking applicants for the next class. THe academy is held on Tuesday nights and each week another aspect of law enforcement is addressed. One week the District Attorney speaks with them , another week another aspect of law enforcement is taught.
