CLEVELAND POLICE ENGAGE SHOOTER

On Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 1:48am Cleveland Police Officer Simon Prince was patrolling the 100 block of S. Washington. While patrolling the area, Officer Prince observed 2 males standing in the Papa Ro’s Restaurant Parking Lot. Officer Prince noticed the males had assumed a confrontational stance, Officer Prince pulled into the parking lot to conduct a further inquiry as to what was going on between the males. As Officer Prince exited his patrol car, one of the males pulled a handgun from his waist band and shot the other male in the thigh.

Upon hearing the gunshot, Officer Prince drew his duty weapon and engaged the shooter. Officer Prince observed the actor holding a pistol, Officer Prince ordered the actor to drop the pistol at which the actor complied. Officer Prince secured the actor and the weapon involved in the shooting. After the actor was apprehended, Officer Prince immediately turned his attention to the welfare of the shooting victim.

EMS arrived a short time later to attend to the victim, the victim was transported to Conroe Medical Center by PHI Air Ambulance. The injuries to the victim are believed to be non-life threatening.

The suspect has been identified as Kailin Dante Wilson (age 20) of Shepherd, Texas. He is being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon which is a 2nd Degree Felony.

The victim’s name is being withheld until family members can be contacted.

A continued investigation is being conducted by the Cleveland Police Department.
