On Tuesday, January 18, 2022, a Cleveland Police Officer was patrolling Taft Avenue when they observed a 2014 Silver Kia car run a stop sign.
The Officer initiated a traffic stop for the violation and made contact with the driver, who was identified as Trumarcus Williams (age 20, Liberty County Address). The Officer also identified the front right passenger as Alexia Lashea Denson (age 18, Liberty County Address) and the back seat passenger as Keuntae Deshawn Cook (age 19, Cleveland Address).
It was found that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license, and the vehicle was uninsured. During the encounter, the Officer detected an odor of marihuana emitting from the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle advised the Officer they had smoked marihuana the day before, and there were leftover marihuana cigarettes in the ashtray.
The Officer had the occupants exit the vehicle, and a search of the vehicle was conducted. The Officer located a brown bag containing marihuana and a handgun. The handgun was located in the area where Keuntae Cook was sitting.
A continued search of the vehicle found an additional four plastic baggies containing marihuana.
All three occupants were arrested and transported to the Cleveland Police Department, where they were booked into jail without incident.
Trumarcus Williams and Alexia Denson was charged with Possession of Marihuana (State Jail Felony) (Greater than 4 oz, less than 5 pounds)
Keuntae Cook was charged with Possession of Marihuana (State Jail Felony) (Greater than 4 oz, less than 5 pounds) and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon (Class A Misdemeanor).
