A cold front is moving from north to south across the area. Behind the front the temperature drops 15 to 20 degrees and the winds pick up out of the north. Attached you can see the position of front at 10 am with 75 in Houston but 59 near Katy!
Tonight and Wednesday look to be cold and wet with periods of cold rain. Temperatures will stay mainly in the 40s on Wednesday (upper 40s, lower 50s near the water) with wind chills in the 30s and lower 40s. It will be windy over the marine areas and areas downwind of the Bays….including Galveston Island, Bolivar, Surfside and Matagorda. There winds tonight and Wednesday morning will be in sustained 20 to 30 mph with gusts 35+ mph. Over marine areas winds will gust near gale force.
