COLDSPRING RESIDENT KILLED IN NEW MEXICO CRASH

On Thursday, October 23, 2014 at approximately 7:28 am, New Mexico State Police, from the Roswell District, responded to a single vehicle crash on State Road 176 and the intersection of State Road 8 near Eunice, New Mexico.
The driver of the vehicle succumbed to his injuries at Lea Regional Medical Center. The driver has been identified as Andrew Wayne Clark (19) of Coldspring, Texas.
It appears Mr. Clark was traveling eastbound on SR 176 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued off the roadway, onto the dirt shoulder. The vehicle traveled toward SR 8, where it hit an embankment causing the vehicle to go airborne. As a result, the vehicle lost control, flipping onto its hood.
Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor and Mr. Clark did not have his seatbelt fastened at the time of the crash. Furthermore, visibility was poor due to heavy fog in the area.
