For many years’ people have shopped gas prices as they drive down the road. Then a second sign on some stations jumped up showing CASH price and CREDIT price. This has usually been maybe five cents different. This past weekend it was brought to the attention of MCPR that this is no longer the case. It is seen more down in South Harris County, Pearland, and Brazoria County. Driving down FM 2353 and also FM 518 this past weekend is was quite evident. Many stations, not just one or two has cash prices as low as $1.98 per gallon CASH. However, the CREDIT price showed $2.25 to $2.37 per gallon. This afternoon in Conroe another station was brought to my attention. The sign on the corner says $2.07 per gallon, then there is another small sign almost hidden by bushes that shows $2.07 price per gallon. There were two others advertised the price on the sign, also on the pump but as soon as the credit card was inserted that price increased twenty cents. If you’re paying by credit card, after you swipe the card, look at the pump price. You can always cancel the sale. But be aware to cancel a sale at times can take up to a minute for the pump to acknowledge.
