On March 23, 2025, at about 6:30 pm, Christina Michelle Hejl, 36, of Conroe, was traveling on FM 1331 near Taylor in Williamson County to Conroe. She was intoxicated and had her five children in the vehicle with her. She failed to negotiate a curve in the road. Leaving the roadway, her van flipped and landed on the roof. Two of the children, ages 8 and 11, were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased on the scene. A third child, age 10, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, including broken ribs and a brain injury. The other two children, ages 5 and 1, had non-life-threatening injuries. Her intoxication level was more than twice the legal limit, and she had prescription drugs in her system. Her charges include two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, and two counts of endangering a child. On March 19, 2024, just a year earlier, Conroe Police arrested her for DWi in the 1500 block of League Line Road. On May 24, 2024, she was sentenced to 10 days in the Montgomery County Jail by Judge Stewart. In the fatal crash case, she was sentenced yesterday to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. They considered the vehicle a deadly weapon. With this determination, she will not be eligible for parole until she completes at least 20 years.
