On the night of April 12, 2017, two men broke into a home at 1900 Green Briar in the Elkins Lake area of Huntsville. Tyrone Harris, 40 and Holice Cook, 39, were in the process a home invasion where marijuana was being grown. The homeowner returned and after seeing a back door kicked in, obtained a gun and opened fire on the two. Cook died on the scene, Harris was also hit. He was found the next morning at Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands with a gunshot wound to the pelvis, chest, and abdomen. In December the Walker County Grand Jury indicted Harris in the death of Cook because Cook’s death happened during the course of a felony. On Friday morning the Conroe Police Department arrested Harris at an apartment in the 1200 block of North Loop 336 West. He is now in the Montgomery County Jail on a $27,500 bond and awaiting Walker County to transport him back to Walker County to stand trial. The resident wasn’t charged at the time for his part in the shooting.
