On January 31, 2024, Noe Demetrio Chavez, age 22, was traveling east on SH 105 on a 2022 Kawasaki. Witnesses told Conroe Police Chavez was traveling at close to 100 mph weaving in and out of three lanes of heavy afternoon traffic. Justine Lopez, age 63 was traveling westbound and turned left onto Sapp Road. Chavez slammed into the passenger side door in the center lane of the three eastbound lanes. The motorcycle burst into flames and Chavez was ejected. Chavez was pronounced deceased on the scene. Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack responded to the scene to perform the inquest. He ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport Chavez to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. Justine Lopez was transported to HCA Conroe for possible injuries and subsequently arrested for DWI over .15. Lopez remains in the Montgomery County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Conroe Police along with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Unit continues to investigate the crash.
