Conroe PD is warning of a telephone bond scam. Scammers pose as law enforcement or bail bond companies, calling friends or family of recently arrested individuals and demanding money for bond. They may ask for payment through CashApp, Zelle, Venmo, or Bitcoin kiosks.
Law enforcement will never call requesting bond payment through CashApp, Zelle, Venmo, or Bitcoin.

Be cautious, scammers often pressure you to act quickly.
Conroe PD and the Sheriff’s Office will never call or email asking for friends or family to make bond payments.
Never share money, account details, or gift card numbers over the phone.
If you get a suspicious call, hang up and call law enforcement to verify.
