MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- On Monday, Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable’s Criminal Investigations Division executed an arrest warrant and a residential search warrant of an Ex-Fire Chief, Paul Edward Nelson, 57, at his residence in Woodland Lakes RV Park on Firehouse Lane in The Woodlands.

Nelson was already free on bond for a separate incident for the offense of Promotion and Possession of Child Pornography, a second-degree felony, out of Jefferson County. At the time of his Jefferson County arrest in January 2021, Nelson was the Fire Chief for the Port Neches Fire Department. His employment was terminated immediately.

Since then, Nelson relocated to Montgomery County.  Nelson allegedly actively chatted with a child, under 14 years of age, in The Woodlands. Nelson sent and requested explicit photos of child sexual assault material to the known juvenile victim. During the course of the investigation Detectives developed information that led to arrest warrants and charges of third-degree felony Promotion of Child Pornography, and second-degree felony Online Solicitation of a Minor.

Nelson was booked in the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe, with bond set at $200,000. The case will be tried in the 359th District Court before Judge Kathleen Hamilton.

“The Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office is a proud affiliate of the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce,” Constable Ryan Gable said.
