The Montgomery County Road Bond that was voted on in 2015 included the widening of Old Houston Road. At the end of 2020 Montgomery County was finally able to track down the last of the property records to acquire the land for the project. Angel Brothers Construction of Baytown was awarded the contract on January 21, 2021. The low bid was $4,478,811.45. Since that date the survey markers are set. Crews are now out cutting the trees off the area for the road easement. The section to be widened is from 350-feet south of SH 242 to the intersection of FM 3083/FM 1485. On Monday crews had to cease work close to 3pm due to vehicle speeding and not yielding to the workers resulting in workers almost being struck. Again today as they were out vehicle never slowed down through the area. Other projects in Precinct 4 will soon be started such as Sorters Road widening where the utilities are almost all moved. Vulcan Construction will be starting Gene Campbell soon, Also property acquisitions are in progress for the widening of Ford Road coming out of Kingwood.
