COPS BUST MONTGOMERY COUNTY THIEVES IN CEMETERY

Last Friday at 7:28 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked at Restland Cemetery on US Hwy 59 South , in Livingston, TX.

Deputy Dustin Lowery arrived on scene and observed two white males fleeing into the wooded area behind the cemetery.

Several Sheriff’s Office personnel immediately joined Lowery in the search for the suspects. Jason Wiggins and Collin Herndon, both from the Montgomery County area, were apprehended hiding in the wooded area.

Both Wiggins and Herndon were found to be in possession of burglary tools as well as methamphetamine. They were placed under arrest and charged with Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Evading Police.

Detective David Mitchell with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office is working on several active cases involving burglaries at the cemetery where landscape and lawn equipment were stolen.

If anyone has any information regarding the burglaries, they are asked to contact Detective David Mitchell at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 329-9027 or call Crime Stoppers at 936-327-STOP where you can remain anonymous and may collect a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.

The suspects’ vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Body Shop.
