Cops Say 1 Had Ankle Monitor, They Still Tried to Run

HARRIS COUNTY, TX- On Thursday, a Sergeant with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 9000 block of FM 1960 Road Bypass Road West in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arriving, a traffic stop was initiated but the driver refused to stop and led deputies on a pursuit.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed at the intersection of the Highway 59 southbound service road and Beltway 8. Two men then fled from the vehicle and crash site on foot. Deputies gave chase and detained both suspects. The driver was identified as 36-year-old Rex Donatto and the passenger as 30-year-old Jarvis Lane, who was free on a $10,000 bond for Retaliation and was still wearing an ankle monitor.

While inventorying the vehicle, deputies located cocaine inside. Rex Donatto admitted the cocaine belonged to him.

“They were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Rex Donatto was charged with Felony Evading and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is awaiting bond out of the 232nd District Court. Jarvis Lane was charged with Misdemeanor Evading and received a $200.00 bond out of County Court 15,” Constable Mark Herman said.
