MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- On Tuesday, a Deputy with Pct. 5 Constable Chris Jones’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a white SUV at Nichols Sawmill and Butera Road. The driver, Jordan Bennett, allegedly accelerated in an attempt to evade deputies and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle crossed Nichols Sawmill onto Meadowsweet and struck a large brick mailbox with enough force to cause the vehicle’s airbags to deploy, and to and to disable the vehicle. Bennett exited the vehicle and allegedly began to run away. After a brief foot pursuit, Deputies caught Bennett and placed him under arrest.
The investigation showed the vehicle Bennett allegedly crashed was recently reported stolen in Harris County. He also had three open Harris County warrants. Deputies transported him to the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe for booking.
Two days earlier, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office began trying to locate Bennett, after responding to a 70-year-old woman’s report that Bennett had allegedly taken her vehicle and assaulted her in the process, leaving visible injuries.
Jordan Russell Bennett, 23, of Mineral Wells is charged with third-degree felony Evading Arrest / Detention with Vehicle ($30,000 bond); class A misdemeanor Criminal Mischief, More than $750 but less than $2,500 ($750); state jail felony Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle ($5,000 bond); Out of county warrants (Harris County) for second-degree felony Injury to a Child / Elderly / Disabled Person, Reckless Bodily Injury / Abandonment ($30,000); and two misdemeanor warrants (with preset bonds totaling $1,201).
