MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- On August 10, around 10 a.m., an investigator with the Precinct 2 Constable’s Office Animal Cruelty Unit responded to an animal cruelty case in the 16000 block of Yates Street in Patton Village.
Upon arrival, the investigator learned that the suspect, Mario Antonio Gomez-Peraza (AKA Mario Rodriguez), had allegedly been having sex with the family dog. A witness said she found the man in an open shed with the dog, and that both Gomez-Peraza and the dog had semen on their genitals. Evidence was collected at the scene, both from the suspect’s clothing and from the dog, and submitted to the Texas Department of Public Safety for DNA processing.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the reports, and an arrest warrant was issued charging 38-year-old Mario Antonio Gomez-Peraza with Bestiality, which is a state jail felony under Texas Penal Code 21.09. Deputies arrested Gomez-Peraza on August 11, and transported him to the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe for booking. Gomez Peraza was later released on a $5,000 bond.
If convicted of the state jail felony charge, Gomez Peraza faces six months to two years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Public Data shows Gomez-Peraza pleaded guilty to DWI in Montgomery County in May 2022. The jail roster shows his legal address is on Bright Sky Ct. in Spring, but he may not have updated his identifying documents.
