Cops Say He was Armed and Wound up “Charged” in More Ways than One

HARRIS COUNTY, TX- On Sunday, deputies with Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 8100 block of Schaffer Lane after receiving multiple calls reporting an armed male walking through the Prestonwood Forest neighborhood, pointing a handgun at residents and their homes and making threats.
Deputies immediately canvassed the area, and with the assistance of DPS 102 Air Support, they located the suspect. As deputies attempted to make contact, the suspect allegedly drew a gun and pointed it at deputies before fleeing on foot. While running, the suspect discarded the firearm.
Deputies re-engaged the suspect, 20-year-old Micah Whitehurst, and deployed a department-issued Taser, safely apprehending him. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
Micah Whitehurst was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and two counts of Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant. His bond has not been set at this time by the 338th District Court.
“This suspect terrorized a neighborhood and then pointed a firearm at our deputies. Thanks to the quick response of our deputies and assistance from DPS Air Support, he was safely apprehended before anyone was seriously injured,” Constable Mark Herman said.
