KINGWOOD, TX- The man suspected of shooting and killing his wife during a domestic dispute is now in custody. He surrendered around 9:45 p.m., after a five-hour standoff with Houston Police, while negotiators tried to convince him to surrender.
A news outlet reported earlier that a small child was present during the shooting, but was unharmed and was out of the house. A different news outlet says the child was a son who managed to escape. At this point, almost nothing is confirmed by officials, aside from the man allegedly fatally shooting his wife.
Details continue to emerge, and the story will updated as information becomes available.
Original report:
KINGWOOD, TX- Just before 5 p.m. Sunday, Houston Police Officers responded to the 4300 block of Vista Ridge. The street lies just the other side of the Montgomery / Harris County line, in the Kingwood part of Houston, between Woodland Hills Drive and West Lake Houston Parkway. A man allegedly shot and killed his wife and then barricaded himself inside their home. HPD’s SWAT Team then responded. HPD negotiators have tried to convince the man to surrender peacefully, but the long standoff is continuing.
HPD has released very little information, since the scene is active, and there’s no official press release at this point. There are conflicting reports as to whether the initial call to law enforcement was reporting a domestic dispute or gunshots.
ABC13 is reporting a 3-year-old was inside the residence at the time of the shooting but was unharmed and has been transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
When an update becomes available, MCPR will post it.
