HARRIS COUNTY, TX- On June 21, Deputies with Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle allegedly traveling at 118 mph in a posted 65 mph speed limit, in the 9100 block of W Sam Houston Pkwy North. That’s 53 miles per hour above the posted speed limit. According to studies by the US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, the odds of surviving a crash at that speed are almost none.
The driver was detained and identified as 17-year-old William Bauerkemper.
“William Bauerkemper was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Reckless Driving. His bond was set at $100 out of County Court 11,” Constable Mark Herman said.
