Cops Say Willis Man Swiftly Went from Odd Behavior to Three Felonies

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- On September 11, around 6:30 p.m., Deputies with Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable Philip Cash’s Office and Precinct 2 Constable Gene Deforest’s Office responded to a welfare concern in the 12300 block of W. FM 1097 in Willis. The caller reported a man behaving erratically in traffic, trying to open to walk away. A struggle soon ensued.

The Precinct 2 Deputy deployed his Taser in an attempt to gain control of Guerrero,
but the suspect struck the Deputy in his face. The Deputy lost control of the Taser, and it fell to the ground but was quickly recovered by another Deputy. Despite being drive-stunned, Guerrero continued to resist, kicking another Deputy in the chest while still attempting to gain control of the Taser.

Additional units responded, and Deputies managed to restrain Guerrero. The suspect was then place in custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe for booking, without further incident.

Stephen Anthony Guerrero, 25, of Willis is charged with two counts of third-degree felony Assault on a Public Servant and one count of third-degree felony attempting to Take a Weapon from a Law Enforcement Officer. Bond amounts were not set as of this posting. The cases will be heard in the 359th District Court in Conroe.
