Just before midnight a man and his wife visiting the area were southbound on I-69 crossing over Roman Forest on their Harley Davidson motorcycle when they were rear-ended by a driver identified as Wayne Luke Everett, 20, of Livingston in his Chevrolet Cruze. After striking the bike which embedded in the front of the Chevrolet Cruze, almost like a hood ornament, the car and bike continued approximately two-hundred feet, ejecting the couple off of the motorcycle. MCHD transported both to Kingwood Hospital in critical condition. Both of those victims remain in critical condition. The passenger in the Cruz got out and walked away. The driver, Wayne Luke Everett, 20, of 605 FM 2457 in Livingston has been charged with a seldom-used charge of intoxication assault causing brain injury in a vegetative state. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail with no bond. Intoxication assault is a third-degree felony. … however, if the offense caused brain damage or left another person in a vegetative state, or the accident involved a police officer, firefighter, or emergency medical personnel, intoxication assault is charged as a second-degree felony.
