COWBOYS DEFENSIVE END MARSHAWN KNEELAND DEAD AFTER VEHICLE PURSUIT

The Dallas Cowboys announced the death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland on Thursday. He was 24. The team made the announcement in a statement, which read:

“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning. Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”

According to the Frisco, Texas Police, Kneeland was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound following an outside agency vehicle pursuit that led to a multi-agency search in Frisco.  On November 5th at approximately 10:39 pm the Frisco Police Department responded to assist DPS with locating a vehicle that had evaded troopers during a pursuit that entered the City of Frisco. After losing visual of the vehicle, troopers located it minutes later, crashed on the southbound Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway. Marshawn then fled the scene on foot. A perimeter was set up, and Frisco K-9 and Drones were deployed. During the course of the search, officers received information that Kneeland had expressed suicidal ideations. Kneeland was later located at 1:31 am Thursday morning, deceased with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office.  Kneeland has played for the Cowboys for two seasons. He was drafted by the Cowboys from Western Michigan University in 2024. He was 56th overall in the second round. In his rookie season, he appeared in 11 games with 14 tackles. Earlier this week he scored his first and only touchdown after recovering a blocked punt against the Arizona Cardinals.
