CRASH CLOSES MORGAN DRIVE

Just after 4:00p.m. MCHD and Splendora Fire Department were dispatched to a accident on Morgan Drive north of FM 2090 in Splendora.

When they arrived they found 52-year-old Deanna Jones still in her 1989 Nissan with power lines draped over the vehicle. As crews worked to get her out Entergy was attempting to cut power to the area. Jones was transported in stable condition. She told DPS Trooper Sutton she does not know what happened as she missed the curve and struck the pole splitting it in two.

Entergy crews are on the scene and will be for many hours as this pole is not just broken off, but on a corner and has three phase lines running to it. After all the hardware is removed from this pole a new one needs to be set and new hardware installed before power lines can be reconnected and power restored. According to Entergy it could take up to 6 hours for total restoral of power.

Meanwhile Morgan Drive remains closed as crews start dismantling the pole.
