Just as troopers finished the Montgomery County crash which killed an 8-month-old child another fatal accident was reported in Walker County. A third vehicle was following the Cavalier. When the Jeep struck the 1999 Cavalier the Jeep rolled once and ended up in the cable barrier. The Cavalier then spun and was struck by the Ford Focus that was following it.

The driver of the Jeep, Jeffery Martinez, of Beaumont was taken to Conroe Regional Hospital in critical condition with a broken leg and severe head injury.

The driver of the Cavalier, Bernardo Alfaro-Gallegos, 33 of Dallas was pronounced dead at the scene by Walker County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Mature. His passenger Jorge Rodriguez, age and address unknown was also pronounced dead at the scene.  The backseat passenger James Lea, 27 of Spring was taken to Conroe Regional in critical condition with internal bleeding.
