A female Montgomery County Deputy had just gotten off duty and was heading home on SH 99 at Valley Ranch. As she was going through the westbound intersection a female driving a Honda and traveling north on Valley Ranch, ran the red light striking the patrol car in the driver’s door. The impact of the crash sent the patrol car off the feeder, down the embankment, and partially into the pond. The female deputy escaped serious injury and was taken to Kingwood Hospital. The driver of the Honda was also transported in stable condition to Kingwood. The impact was so great that the engine was knocked out of the Honda. DPS worked the crash. The intersection was closed until Milstead Wrecker was able to load the patrol car. There have been several crashes at the intersection. On several prior crashes the developer of Valley Ranch, Signorelli Company had lights in the trees. The lights were green and several motorists claimed they thought it was a traffic light as they came under the overpass of SH 99. Signorelli Company was alerted to that fact and changed all the lights to blue.
