On Friday TXDOT, Beaumont Division which covers Liberty County closed lanes on I-69 between Splendora and Cleveland to repair several potholes that once again emerged after the rains. With construction close to completion on the new freeway, the current freeway is in extremely bad shape. Over the past two weeks, at least 40 vehicles have been damaged with potholes and damaged tires and rims. Those were to be repaired today. However, tonight at 11 pm there are six vehicles disabled on the shoulder with tire damage. According to the TXDOT website which was updated today, completion of the new lanes is set for tomorrow (Saturday). A Tweet was issued Friday morning stating the right lane from Fostoria to County Road 332 will be closed Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm for repairs. They say to expect delays. The right lane is what was repaired with a cold patch Friday they say. There are a few in the left lane but the right seems to be worse. Many vehicles are also traveling in excess of the 45 mph posted limit which makes response to seeing a hole much shorter to avoid it.
