Just after 10 pm, witnesses said a male driving a black passenger car was northbound on I-45 at a high rate of speed and passing on the inside/ left shoulder. At Shepherd Hill, he passed a Southeast Motor Freight 18-wheeler pulling double trailers. As he went under the Shepherd Hill overpass the motorist cut back into the main lane in front of the 18-wheeler. The 18-wheeler driver attempted to take evasive action but jack-knifed, his second trailer broke loose and continued another 100 yards up the interstate with the passenger car being pushed alongside it. The 18-wheeler tractor and trailer rolled over injuring the truck driver. The driver of the passenger car was uninjured. The 18-wheeler was loaded with paint and paint resins which spilled inside and outside the trailer. HAZMAT International is on the scene trying to empty the load and clean the spilled product. Once that is done the truck will be righted. As of 2:30 am the cleanup operation just started. Only the northbound left shoulder lane is open. It is possible this could last into the morning commute time.
