DPS has identified the victim of the Sunday morning auto vs tree crash on Daw Collins as Mindy Kay Puffer, 37, of Livingston.
Just before 6 am a call came in to 911 dispatchers of a green Chevrolet Blazer southbound on I-69 at a high rate of speed all over the road. As units tried to locate it a Range 3 wrecker driver spotted it on FM 2090 driving erratically. The driver called dispatchers and stayed on the phone with them as he continued to follow. The vehicle traveled north on Daw Collins. As it rounded the curve just before Old 105 the female driver came off the side of the road came back onto the road then hit a tree and went into the woods. The wrecker driver told dispatchers after he got out that he believed she was deceased. East Montgomery Fire responded along with MCHD. They confirmed the female driver was deceased. DPS investigated the crash which closed Daw Collins Road until just after 9 am.
