Just after 2am Conroe Police Department responded to a reported vehicle in a building. When they arrived at the new “Precious Tots Daycare they found an Oldsmobile parked up against the front wall partially in the building. The driver had fled the scene but after some good investigative work by the Conroe Police Department they located Shaylon Mace, age 19 of Conroe.
Mace had borrowed his grandmothers 1998 Oldsmobile and gone out driving.
Conroe Police notified the owner of the building Rolanda Parker who responded to the scene.
Ms. Parker advised officers that this was a brand new Day Care just approved by the state and was already fully booked. She continued to explain that she was due to open at in almost three hours for the first time.
When the vehicle tried passing on Plantation and for unknown reasons swerved through the parking lot striking the building it caused structural damage.
The vehicle went through some trees and struck the brick wall which in turn broke the fall loose from the foundation and pushed it inside the building. When the wall broke inward it also broke of a row of shelves for children’s belongings.
As the owner talked with a contractor about getting repairs completed Conroe Police were out in the parking lot giving the suspect a field sobriety test.
There were no arrests as the owner refused to press charges saying she felt he learned his lesson.
Ms. Parker now planned to call parents to warn them nt to bring the children in this morning as with the structural damage they could not open.
