The partially decomposed body of a man was found around 9:am October 30, lying in a dry creek bed approximately 15feet south of a bridge that is about a quarter mile West of the Hwy. 105 Trinity River bridge in north Liberty County. The remains were discovered by a deer hunter riding his ATV and emerging from a nearby wooded area under the Hwy. 105 bridge.
Lead Investigator Sgt. Paul Lasco of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said at this time there is no obvious cause of death. Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Judge Cody Parrish arrived on the scene and ordered an autopsy.

Lead Investigator Sgt. Paul Lasco has now confirmed and released the name of the deceased as being that of Billy Joe Hughes (WM) DOB 4-01-84 with an address in Cleveland, Texas which will be around the Davis Hill Big Thicket area off Hwy. 105.
The preliminary autopsy report reflect that the Medical Examiner’s Office is waiting on the toxicology result to give a final ruling on the cause and/or manner of death and, at present, there is no time frame on this ruling.
