DEPUTY ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY IN EARLY MORNING CRASH

Just before 6 am Friday, a Montgomery County Deputy was parked o the shoulder of US 59 northbound at the Roman Forest entrance ramp. He has just finished a traffic stop and was in the patrol car when an air conditioning utility truck traveling northbound, left the roadway and slammed into the patrol car. The deputy suffered minor injuries and was transported to Kingwood Hospital. The northbound ramp to US 59 was closed as were the right two lanes of US 59 for about an hour. DPS investigated the crash. The driver of the truck told investigators he fell asleep.
