A Harris County Deputy Sheriff was operating a marked patrol car of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, eastbound in the 2300 block of E Wallisville Rd, in east Harris County. The 29-nine-year-old female suspect was driving a green colored, Ford Explorer westbound on the E. Wallisville.. The female driver failed to drive in a single lane of traffic and crossed left of center. The front of the her vehicle struck the front of the patrol car. The collision resulted in the death of the Deputy Sheriff. The female was seriously injured in the collision and evacuated by ambulance to the hospital. The still unidentified driver was observed to have indicators of impairment and a blood sample was obtained from her. She had been traveling together with a 36-year-old male passenger who was not injured and was cooperating with investigators on the scene..
. While collecting and documenting evidence of the crash, investigators found the defendant and the male passenger to be in possession of illegal narcotics. The female driver and her passenger are charged with Possession of a Controlled substance. This crash remains under investigation by the Traffic Enforcement Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Additional charges are pending against the female driver. Sheriff Adrian Garcia said alcohol is not a factor in the crash, but he believes controlled substances may have been a factor. The sheriff’s office is waiting for a toxicology report.
The deputy who died was an 11 year veteran assigned to the patrol bureau. He is a single father of a 10-year-old boy and was his mother’s only son.
Pending notification of the deputy’s family, all identities are currently withheld.
