Montgomery Fire Department held their grand opening on the new Station 53 located on SH 105 just east of FM 1486 in the Dobbin Community. Chief Brian Edwards and the ESD 2 Board were finally able to clear the hurdles thrown at them by both TXDOT and Entergy and were able to open the state of the art fire station.
According to Chief Edwards the new station will reduce at least six minutes in a call response for the area. Prior to the opening fire trucks had to come from just east of Montgomery crossing heavily traveled SH 105 and clearing intersections of FM 149 and the school zones west of Montgomery.
The station is located just over one hundred yards from the home that exploded in Dobbin last summer.
The station will be manned 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
