11:45 a.m.-Just before 11 a.m. this morning two 18-wheelers were involved in a crash on SH 242 at Hickory. According to witnesses the 18-wheeler box truck made a u-turn at Hickory Road and the eastbound log truck was unable to stop. The log truck truck with such force that it split the box truck in two.
The driver of the log truck of which the cab was demolished was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. He escaped with the help of witnesses as his truck did catch fire but was extinguished by a wrecker from Livingston who was also passing by.
DPS is on the scene as is Milsted Haz-Mat due to fluids on the ground.
SH 242 will remain closed between Old Houston and FM 1485 for several more hours.
suggested reroute would be by using FM 1314 to US 59 or traveling north on Old Houston to FM 1485 then south back to SH 2442.
Westbound traffic on SH 242 turn north on FM 1485 to Old Houston (the first traffic light) turn south (left) on Old Houston back to SH 242.
