At 2:49pm Montgomery County Hospital District and Montgomery Fire Department were dispatched to a major accident with entrapment on FM 149 and Blue Goose. The first engine on the scene requested additional equipment and stated they had two commercial trucks with pinned in occupants and a Crown Victoria passenger car with entrapped patients. The first medical unit on the scene determined a 75-year-old female who was in the driver side rear passenger seat was deceased. The driver of the vehicle , the deceased woman’s husband age 78 was in serious condition. Both were from the Clovis, New Mexico area. A 79-year-old female in the passenger seat of the Crown Victoria who is from Montgomery was also in serious condition. Both of them were transported by MCHD to Conroe Regional Hospital.
The driver of the Isuzu box truck, which was loaded with appliances was trapped and in critical condition. PHI Air Medical was dispatched to the scene and transported the 32 year-old-driver from Kingwood to Memorial Herman Hospital in the Houston Medical Center where he passed away early Tuesday evening.
The driver of the other truck, a utility bucket truck was also entrapped and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston by Life Flight after a second helicopter was requested by MCHD.
According to DPS several officers on motorcycles from an outside agency were escorting a wide-oversize load south on FM 149 from Montgomery. The officers were well ahead of the vehicle to pull traffic to the side. Behind them were two bucket trucks owned by Wheeling High Load Company. They were stopping at over head power lines to raise them for the oversize load. The driver of one of the bucket trucks which was southbound went of the very steep shoulder of the pavement and overcorrected. When he did he came across FM 149 into the northbound lanes striking the passenger car on the driver side passenger door with its left front.The Crown Victoria ran off into the northbound ditch.
The bucket truck then struck an Isuzu box truck owned by Kingwood based, Installations by Special D. The truck was loaded with new appliances including washers, dryers and dishwashers. When the box truck was struck by the right side of the bucket truck it caused both vehicles to roll over each other,, The cab and box were ripped from the truck.
DPS is not yet releasing names of victims until Wednesday morning.
Stowes Wrecker removed the Crown Victoria and Milstead Heavy Duty loaded both trucks. FM 149 remains closed at 9pm as a HAZMAT crew cleans spilled fuel. Once the scene is clear the wide load which has been sitting behind the accident scene since it happened much be escorted to a parking area in Magnolia before shutting down for the night.
Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack was also dispatched to scene and ordered an autopsy on the deceased female. He ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport her to the Montgomery County Forensic Center in Conroe for autopsy.
The Montgomery County District Attorneys Office also assisted on the scene with the investigation.
